Save over 70% on a Windstar Italy cruise.
There are so many websites and blogs dedicated to travel deals that we rarely post about them. But every once in a while, we see a deal so good, we have to share it.
Vacationstogo.com is selling a 7-day Mediterranean cruise aboard the Wind Surf for $999 per person. The voyage leaves Civitavecchia outside Rome on Sunday, August 16, 2009, and calls at Ischia, Capri, Amalfi, Corsica, and Livorno (for Florence) before returning to Rome.
The list price for an oceanview cabin on this sailing is $4,099, so if you take advantage of this deal, you'll save 76%. Suites, which ordinarily cost $6,349, are selling for $1,649.

The Venice Vogalonga Regatta -- good times on the Grand Canal.
A few years ago, we were in Venice in May - which, by the way, is a wonderful time to visit. We found the perfect table alongside the Grand Canal near the Rialto Bridge and sat down for an afternoon bite.

Many of the teams wore matching uniforms - from British University crews in straw boaters to Italian teams in regional garb - and a lot of the boats were decorated or draped with greenery.

Ischia -- an Italian island for those seeking the road less travelled.

Reached by a 45-minute hydrofoil ride from Naples, Ischia is only 18 square miles. There are several up-market resorts on the northern end of the island, near the town of Lacco Ameno.
We stayed at Mezzatorre, with a package we purchased through Luxury Link. The views, public areas, and facilities are all wonderful. But this property isn't for everyone. First of all, the location is kind a remote. There's a free shuttle to Lacco Ameno, but you'll have been there and don't that in about 15 minutes. And it's a steep walk from the restaurant to some of the rooms.
