Michael Palin Explores Eastern Europe.

We think John Cleese is the funniest man in the world.  In an interview a couple of years ago, they asked him what one thing he would want if he were stranded on a desert island.  His answer?  Fellow Monty Python member, Michael Palin.

Palin’s BBC travel series – Around the World in 80 Days, Pole to Pole, Himalaya, and Sahara – confirm Cleese’s good taste.  Palin is a charming, insightful guide with a delicious sense of humor and an inveterate sprit of adventure.

His new series, The New Europe, takes him to twenty Eastern European countries, many of which are just emerging from behind the Iron Curtain.   In seven episodes, Palin explores Slovenia, Croatia, Macedonia, Turkey, Romania, Estonia, and Poland.  En route, he soars over Cappodocia in a balloon, travels by steam train to Dracula’s Transylvanian castle, and even skins a pig.

The series airs Monday nights at 8:00PM and 11:00PM ET on the Travel Channel.
